Dominion
Limited Capacity seats available

In Dominion, each player starts with an identical, very small deck of cards. In the center of the table is a selection of other cards the players can "buy" as they can afford them. Through their selection of cards to buy, and how they play their hands as they draw them, the players construct their deck on the fly, striving for the most efficient path to the precious victory points by game end.

Dominion is not a CCG, but the play of the game is similar to the construction and play of a CCG deck. The game comes with 500 cards. You select 10 of the 25 Kingdom card types to include in any given play—leading to immense variety.

The host has a complete set of Dominion and all of its expansions. We will be randomly drawing the Kingdom cards from all of the sets.

Your host is Gregory Pratt.
Suggested age range is Teen 13+.

Robot Turtles (Kid Friendly!)
Come by anytime during this timeslot and join us at a game or two of Robot Turtles -- the the most-backed board game in Kickstarter history. It sneakily teaches programming fundamentals to kids ages 3 or 4 to 12 or so... and involves at least one adult acting pretty silly! And it's really fun!

And it can be played at varying levels of complexity simultaneously, so that children of varying ages can play together.

Please plan on staying with your child, bringing your inner child, or both ~ they'll be the Turtle Master, but you'll be their Turtle Mover. (That's the part where the grown-ups start acting silly, to the great delight of the children...)

Your hosts are Leonard and Bonny Moss.

Characters' Impact on Game Development
So many games are influenced by the characters within them. Whether it's a known intellectual property or a brand new world with custom characters, games should bring those characters to life. In this panel, we'll talk about how game mechanics can invoke a specific style and feel that, along with good artwork, really bring a character to life.

The Ancient World
Limited Capacity seats available

In The Ancient World, players compete to grow the largest and most influential city-state by managing citizens, treasury, and military and by defeating titans. Players take turns sending citizens to take special actions or using military cards to attack titans. One of the actions a citizen can perform is to build Empire cards, which give more citizens, money, and abilities.

A city-state's influence in the world is measured by sets of tribe banners that it owns. Each Empire card has one or more tribe banners, and tribe banners can also be gained by defeating titans. Players gain victory points (VPs) for sets of tribe banners. After six rounds, the player with the most VPs from sets of tribe banners wins.

A terrific combination of worker placement and set collection.

Dead of Winter
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Dead of Winter is a meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means players are working together toward one common victory condition — but for each individual player to achieve victory, he must also complete his personal secret objective. This secret objective could relate to a psychological tick that's fairly harmless to most others in the colony, a dangerous obsession that could put the main objective at risk, a desire for sabotage of the main mission, or (worst of all) vengeance against the colony! Certain games could end with all players winning, some winning and some losing, or all players losing. Work toward the group's goal, but don't get walked all over by a loudmouth who's looking out only for his own interests!

Red Dragon Inn
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Red Dragon Inn (or RDI) is a competitive card game made by SlugFest Games. RDI is the destination of many Adventurers after their latest dungeon crawl. In the game the players take the role of one of these Adventurers sitting around a table doing what Adventurers do best, gamble, get into trouble, and of course drink. The object is to be the last character still sober with gold in their pocket. Each player gets an individual character deck that has cards that match the theme and style of that character. This game is fairly easy to pick up and play, and it's certainly more fun if players get into character, but that's not required.

Hope to see you at the Inn, and if the Wench says you should drink that dwarven firewater, you better listen to her...

OSR D&D: The Filthy Lucre of Goblintown
Limited Capacity seats available

As a 67% free slave in the goblin city of Yowing Wallows, your mission is to accumulate enough filthy lucre to buy the remainder of your freedom. Or just get rich enough to buy a nice piece of property in this garbage-caked, utterly lawless, goblin-infested cavern system.

This will possibly involve squabbling over who gets to keep the only sword in town that isn't made of sharpened fish bones and snot.

This will probably involve scheming, robbing, lying, and stabbing your way through mounds of literal garbage.

This will definitely involve the DM screaming himself hoarse as he attempts to do goblin-voice.

The ruleset is an OSR homebrew that's pretty close to B/X D&D. The rules can be taught in about 5 minutes. The only thing you need to bring is a good attitude and a flexible set of morals.

I also blog over at goblinpunch.blogspot.com if you are curious about what sort of games I run.

From Crowdfunding to Fulfillment
Crowdfunding is a central component in modern tabletop game production. Emphasis is placed on a successful campaign, but with numerous projects delayed, cancelled, or otherwise impeded after being funded, it is clear the path to actually producing a game is unclear. By sharing our experiences after receiving the lump sum from Kickstarter, we can educate upstart developers and ensure they have all the information they need before asking the public for money.

Sex & Gender in Gaming
Despite our culture's ever-increasing sophistication and sensitivity on the topics surrounding sex and gender, it can often feel like game communities resist progress on this front, preferring instead to rely on harmful gender stereotypes. Join our panelists in a moderated discussion of how games deal with gender and sexuality and how that impacts the conversations we, as gamers, have with our communities.

He triggered the rear guns once more. A direct hit! The blue car skidded as the driver lost control – then flipped and caught fire. That would teach him not to tailgate . . .

Car Wars is the game of the freeways of the future, where the right of way goes to the biggest guns. Players build vehicles complete with weapons, armor, power plants, and more. Then they take them out on the desolate roads, or maybe the brightly lit arenas, to come home as "aces," or to crash and burn.

The battlefield will be a 3-D arena and upscaled from the Classic game.

No experience is necessary to play. Designs will be provided.

This tournament will feature 4 qualifier rounds, starting at 9, 11:30, 2, and 4:30, with a maximum of 8 players per round. The top two finishers from each qualifier round earn a seat at the final round at 7.

Finalists may bring their own Division 25 arena-legal design (with 50 point characters) if they wish or use one provided by the host.

Mysterium
Limited Capacity seats available

Mysterium is a purely co-operative game. One player takes the role of a helpful ghost who lives in a mysterious ancient manor. Other players are a group of psychics invited by the manor owner to solve the mystery of the place and bring peace to its residents, as any person who stays in the castle sees strange dreams.

The ancient legend says the ghost is the soul of the manor's previous resident, who was unjustly executed for a crime he didn't commit, more than one hundred years ago. Now he tries to use the mysterious signs to tell people the truth about what really happened then, so that justice would be established and he might rest in peace for ever. The specialists in the supernatural were invited to try to understand what the ghost wants to tell and in case of success be honored by one more victory and receive a generous reward. They have seven days and seven nights to reach their goal. If they succeed in time, everyone wins the game (including the ghost).

Innovation
Limited Capacity seats available

This game by Carl Chudyk is a journey through innovations from the stone age through modern times. Each player builds a civilization based on various technologies, ideas, and cultural advancements, all represented by cards. Each of these cards has a unique power which will allow further advancement, point scoring, or even attacking other civilizations. Be careful though, as other civilizations may be able to benefit from your ideas as well!

To win, you must score achievements, which you can attain by amassing points or by meeting certain criteria with the innovations you have built. Plan your civilization well, and outmaneuver your opponents, and with some luck you will achieve victory!

Some bonds can't be broken. Forged in mud, under enemy fire, the heart pounding, home just a memory, sharing misery and the frenzy of combat - bonds forged by spilt blood, and stronger than blood. You were a unit of soldiers in Afghanistan then a unit of mercenaries in Central America. You fought men, and the dark creatures that control them. After a decade, with money in the bank, the unit disbanded - each of you trying to go home.

Maybe once you've seen behind the curtain, you can never go home. It's only been a few weeks when the Lt sends you a message, simply "Help". On greyhounds and amtrak, you're rolling into town to do whatever it takes to defeat whoever, or whatever, has him up against the wall.

Fool's Gold
Limited Capacity seats available

Fool's Gold takes place during the gold rush of 1849. Players are investors who send prospectors on a quest to find gold at various locations — in the mountains, in a forest, at a river, etc. — with each location having perils, gems, quantities of gold and bountiful supplies of silt. As players remove valuable gold cards from the location decks, silt becomes more prominent and gold harder to find.

This is a very casual, luck-filled game with a little dice rolling, some worker placement, and a whole lotta fun.

Your host is Bob Mills.

No experience required; will teach rules to new players.

Anyone Can Make Board Games (And So Should You!)
With their low material costs and design flexibility, board and card games are the perfect way for budding and experienced game creators to hone their design muscles. Anyone who wants to can grab some markers and a stack of index cards and start designing the game of their dreams. However, it can still be difficult to know where to start, or what to do once you're ready to take your game to the next level.

In this talk, our panel of experienced game designers will provide tips on how to turn your ideas into prototypes, what to look for when playtesting your design, and how to turn those early prototypes into a polished game!

+1 to Social Skills: The power of tabletop games to make us better people
Adam Davis and Adam Johns founded Wheelhouse Workshop in order to help neurodiverse teenagers build social skills using role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. They founded this business based on the belief that tabletop games are not only good for developing social skills, but if facilitated intentionally, can be an amazing tool for personal growth. Come hear stories from behind the screen of a therapeutic game master and celebrate how the games we love can help us grow.
